Meet Your Tutor
My name is Sharifa Callender, founder and lead tutor of Victory Over Math.
I am a creative problem-solver with over 11 years of experience as a professional math tutor. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Rice University and am certified to tutor through the College Reading and Learning Association. I am passionate about helping students understand math. When I’m not crunching math problems, you can find me trying out a new DIY project.
Free Discovery Call
Book a free 15-minute discovery call. During this call, we will discuss the challenges you face in your math class and outline your goals for success. We will also review Victory Over Math’s policies and procedures. Afterwards, you can start booking hourly tutoring sessions.
Steps to Victory
Here’s what to expect during your tutoring session:
1. Review
The tutor will review the topic that is difficult for the student. The tutor will provide clear and concise instructions, moving at a pace suitable for the student.
2. Work
The tutor will work several problems with the student, coaching them through the steps to find the correct solution. *
3. Reinforce
At the conclusion of the tutoring session, the tutor will send the student notes from the session and additional problems (with solutions) for the student to work independently.
* Please note that the tutor cannot work on homework, quizzes, or exams with the student.
Victory Over Math conducts all sessions through Zoom.
